Jo is an agricultural systems, innovation and research translation leader with a career spanning science, industry, government-funded programs, grower networks, agtech, and climate resilience.
As Principal Consultant at Cultivate Wisdom Consulting, Jo helps organisations turn complex research, technology, policy and market signals into clear strategy, fundable programs and practical adoption pathways. Her work sits at the intersection of agricultural science, innovation systems, stakeholder engagement, public-good investment and commercial reality.
Jo brings deep scientific training and applied industry experience. She holds a PhD in plant physiology from The University of Western Australia, alongside qualifications in agriculture, anthropology and digital technologies. She is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at The University of Western Australia, reflecting her continued contribution to agricultural research, innovation and industry translation.
Her career has included senior leadership across agricultural innovation, drought resilience, grower-led systems and cross-sector partnerships. As Director of the South-West WA Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub, Jo led a major regional platform focused on strengthening drought preparedness, adoption, collaboration and practical resilience across farming systems, industries and landscapes. She has also worked closely with universities, government agencies, grower groups, RDCs, industry bodies, agribusinesses and regional partners to design programs that are credible, useful and grounded in real-world decision-making.
Jo’s expertise spans research translation, adoption systems, innovation strategy, impact pathways, stakeholder engagement, program design, technical due diligence, climate and drought resilience, natural capital and sustainability strategy. She is particularly interested in the space between good ideas and actual change: how evidence becomes action, how partnerships become delivery systems, and how complex agricultural challenges can be translated into practical pathways for investment and implementation.

Tom is a Western Australian agribusiness leader with a career spanning premium wine, viticulture, agribusiness finance, corporate governance, logistics and regional development.
As Owner and Managing Director of Plantagenet Wines, Tom leads one of Western Australia’s most respected premium wine producers, building on a proud Great Southern legacy while driving the business through its next phase of growth, innovation and market development.
A sixth-generation Western Australian, Tom’s connection to agriculture and enterprise is deeply rooted. His career has combined hands-on viticultural experience with sophisticated post-farm gate agribusiness lending and finance expertise developed through 10 years in senior roles with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA), supporting complex agricultural and commercial businesses.
Tom has also held leadership positions in corporate governance, project management and operational strategy through his involvement with the Lionel Samson Sadleirs Group, a long-established Western Australian business with interests across logistics, trade and services.
This combination of agricultural insight, financial capability and commercial governance experience provides Tom with a broad understanding of supply chains, capital investment, business transformation and regional enterprise.
At Plantagenet Wines, Tom champions provenance, quality and sustainability, highlighting the unique potential of the Great Southern wine region. He is also Chair of the Great Southern Wine Producers Association, representing producers across the region and advocating for collaboration, investment and the continued growth of Great Southern wine nationally and internationally.
